Question: I have an existing Dell computer running XP Pro and I want to wipe the entire hard drive to install Ubuntu. Will I be able to do this? Will the computer run all of the attached hardwares if Ubuntu wipes out all of the existing data and drivers? Basically I want to format my old XP hard drive and replace it with Ubuntu.

you are awsome. pls make a video to install ubuntu through a usb drive.

  14. quesomanrulz says:

@ProMayuke I believe that Ubuntu now has official USB boot support, although I have never tried it. Just make sure you follow the USB boot instructions they provide and it should work. It will involve partitioning that external drive though, which is somewhat inconvenient.

  15. ProMayuke says:

@quesomanrulz what about a USB hard drive will that work?

  16. quesomanrulz says:

@ProMayuke About 700mb, fits perfectly on a cd.

  17. ProMayuke says:

@quesomanrulz it’s 4.7 GB how big is the file?

  18. animator991 says:

you are so cool i need to know from wher did u download infrarecorder.

  19. quesomanrulz says:

@ProMayuke Its a waste of a DVD because you’re only using like 1/8th of the DVD space. But sure, it will work.

  20. ProMayuke says:

    will a dvd+r work?

I can’t find the reup disks for XP desktop and never had one for my laptop(I think it has the reup on the laptop hard drive but I think the virus ate it… I just got a Netbook and the widows 7 reup is on there somewere. I like to download risky files…my plan was if I get a virus throw the reup disk at it. They are gone.
I guess I am wondering how safe…If this OS is safe behind a partition while a very slow malware ridden XP is lurking on the hard disk.

If I stall Ubuntu on my hard drive and get rid of windows is there anyway I can install windows again? oh and do I need any anti-virus software for Ubuntu?

  24. westvirginia45 says:

I have a laptop that has Windows, and whenever I turn it on, Windows starts up, but while it’s loading, it restarts itself. It keeps doing that and never stops. So I decided to put Ubuntu on my laptop, but I Burned Ubuntu on my PC. If I put the disk in my laptop, what do I do after that? Or can I not burn it on one computer and put it on another?

if i install ubuntu on a laptop would my integtated wireless work?
